Housing

Each team member is responsible for their own housing. Most of our employees find places to live by checking online sources such as Craig's List, the local newspapers, contacting the local rental agency (Housing Connection), looking at bulletin boards and networking with other ski area employees.

Housing Opportunities

Finding a place to live can be challenging. Your housing search will be easier if you start looking and/or arrive early. We strongly suggest that you plan to obtain housing before Thanksgiving.

Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows Hostel

We do have a hostel available for employees. It is located at the base of the mountain at Squaw Valley and offers both short term or long term housing. Shared room rates range from $250 to $400 a month and nightly rates are also available. Please call 530-448-0274 for information on the Hostel.

Things You Should Know About Housing

  • Most housing requires first and last month's rents, plus a security deposit.
  • An average one bedroom studio apartment can rent from $650 - $1000 a month. Homes and cabins can rent from $1000-$2200+ a month.
  • Some of the areas you will want to consider are Truckee, Lake Tahoe North Shore (Incline Village to Tahoe City) Kings Beach, Tahoe City, or the West Shore of Lake Tahoe (Tahoe City to Tahoma).
  • All employees are able to ride TART (the local public bus) to work at Squaw or Alpine for free. TART runs from Incline Village on the east shore, Tahoma on the west shore, and Truckee.
