Register your skis or snowboard with the Placer County Sheriff’s Department to deter from theft and make it easier to get your equipment returned to you if found.
The Placer County Sheriff’s Office Ski Registration Program is designed to reduce the number of ski and snowboard thefts and unclaimed/lost skis and snowboards. By having the serial numbers recorded in a database accessible 24 hours a day by multiple local law enforcement agencies, Placer County Sheriffs will easily be able to identify the owner of the equipment and return it to them. Once registered, they will affix an easily identifiable yellow sticker to the registered equipment with the Placer County Sheriff’s phone number. This sticker will not only be a deterrent to theft, but will also advise the finder of the equipment that the skis are registered and the owner can be notified. This is a free service.
The Placer County Sheriff’s department will be at Squaw Valley April 4, 2014 from 9am-4pm, and Alpine Meadows April 5, 2014 from 9am-4pm assisting people in the registration process. In addition, you can also register your skis online and at the security office at Squaw Valley.
